We’ve been back in town for a week now, but I haven’t opened the blog back up because I’ve been so busy trying to catch up on everything else. I put some very unrealistic pressure on myself the first day or two back. I really thought that after being away for two weeks and not answering emails or doing any kind of paperwork, I would be able to have all the old stuff off my desk and out of my outbox by 5 p.m. ,Tuesday. I didn’t even come close.
All week long I felt like I was running in slow-motion in very loose beach sand. I fought through it though and I think I’m back in rhythm.
We had a great time in Florida. We ate great seafood, we played on the beach, we played in the pool, and we did absolutely nothing at all and felt great about it.
I love seafood, but I hate paying for it. I think I’ve discovered something very important about ordering seafood in a restaurant. If you order a blackened grouper filet entree with a side of steamed veggies and rice pilaf, it is going to cost you somewhere around 18 dollars. If you order a blackened grouper sandwich with fries or slaw, near as I can tell, you get the same filet you get with the entree, sans the rice pilaf and veggies for about 8 dollars. I’m done paying an extra ten dollars for rice and broccoli.
The next six months are going to be busy. The workshop is coming and we’re working through some fairly significant (and difficult) stuff at Garnett. I’m glad I got to take an extended breather.
