Swords into Plowshares

We’re getting ready to head back to Tulsa from Abilene. We’ve been here for the Lectureship. Last night I spoke from Micah 4:1-5. I’m terrible at knowing how what I said landed with my audience, so the best I can say about how things went last night is that I said what I believe God wanted me to say in the way (mostly) that I wanted to say it. I hope what I said did justice to Micah’s vision of God’s future.

The highlight for me was seeing several old friends who came out of the woodwork to support me and remind me what I was like when I was a freshman at ACU back in 1991. It’s quite intimidating to preach to old roommates and college buddies, not to mention a handful of my old professors.

Funny, I have been using Micah 4:6-8 lately.

So tell me, how is that passage of scripture pertinent now? I mean, this is a suit up in your armor time.

Give us a bit of it so we can see what you’re saying.

Wade, remember preaching to Randy and Jack in Ohio? Man was that intimidating! (I’m sure I intimidated you a little bit too.)

just a thought after reading comment #1

re: ‘this is a suit up in your armor time’

reckon it was ’suit up in your armor time’ when Micah wrote what he wrote?…..just wondering……

will let you scholars get back to figuring this all out….

p.s. i heard once that that armor was relly hot inside, and weighed you down so, that if you fell off your horse you were completely helpless and vulnerable hmmmm must be a better way.

My husband and I listened to your lecture on Tuesday night on our computer at home. I think you did a great job. We hear a lot about Shalom from our preacher, Bobby Valentine.

I remember one time preaching back home, I invited a friend to hear me, and he showed up because he thought is was a joke. He could never imagine me preaching, I guess I could not back then too.
