Easter Sermons are Hard for Me

Every year my Easter sermon is the hardest one to put together. Any other preachers out there have the same problem?

Right now I’m supposed to be working on my sermon but I’m putting it off.

If I can get some work done on my sermon I’ll come back and tell you about how one of the biggest sermonic eggs I’ve ever laid was on Easter Sunday a number of years ago.

Wade, I attempt to create an Easter (death, burial and resurrection) experience more than I attempt to write a 22-25 minute sermon.
The video “It’s Friday, but Sunday is Coming” never gets old.
This year, we are having a baptism which will come immediately after the video.
So, hurry and convert someone before Sunday and form the worship service around their baptism. :)

Wade,

This is from another Josh. I agree with your belief to keep Easter simple. This Sunday, I’m going to re-tell the story from John’s Gospel, and sit down. Then Patrick (Mead) will unpack the narrative for 15 minutes or so and we’ll end with 15 minutes of worship with the choir/community.

I hope we can spend a bit of time in Tulsa.

Great thoughts! JG

Oh yeah, brother…but the Lord finally supplied a little manna…praise his name.

I thought that Josh Ross’ comment was a bit cynical!
