It may be time for a new laptop when after having clicked on the icon to open an application you have time to go to the bathroom before the app fully opens and is ready for use.

If you called tech support, they’d want to know if you’re talking #1 or #2.
Linux - fast, and impervious to viruses, spyware, nagware, trojans, etc.
Macbook. Yes.
Or give it a good cleaning!
No, it’s THREE words… Mac. Book. Pro.
I’m thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to making the jump to the MAC. Don’t tell Houston please. I’ve ripped him to no end about making the leap.
Am in same boat and am seriously considering a Macbook with the hard drive partioned to run Windows as well. A bit pricey but worth the experiment. Both my sons (college senior and high school senior) are asking for the same…and it doesn’t hurt that a good friend runs the Aplle department at our friendly neighborhood Best Buy…
All I can say is this, I’ve had my MacBook Pro for a few months now, and now that I’ve worked on it for a while, I seriously cannot understand how I tolerated a PC for so long. Wade, it’s seriously like going from a Wilson Indoor/Outdoor ball on a parking lot court to playing with a NBA Spalding Leather on the nicest wood floor ever… Everything just feels better and works more smoothly.
Jody,
Just transfer your senior to OC or ACU (or perhaps Lipscomb), send your other son when he graduates, and they will get Macs for free — plus tuition.
Unless you just want to purchase a new computer you might try the following. Download a free Registry Cleaner, this alone can speed up a ‘puter. Run this and you’ll watch hundreds of stray registry entries deleted. Here’s a link to “eusing free registry cleaner”.

Next try the trial version of Download Windows and Internet Pro
http://www.neoimagic.com/download.htm#wic_pro
Run both of these and I bet your ‘puter will see a significant increase in speed. This will hold you over for a period. Try it and let me know

Prediction: both Wade and Rob will see the light and buy Mac Books before the end of the summer. I’ve had mine (Mac Book Pro) two years without a virus or any other problem. It does what a computer is supposed to do … actually work.
You hush Houston! Thanks for the coming today though to our HL. If you can swing Wade and me the sweeeeet deal you got on yours we might make the jump. So, you gonna help us???
I agree with the Mac Book Pro comments. I have had mine less than a year (also have a Mac Mini at home) and I don’t know how I ever managed life without one — I can’t imagine ever going back to a PC for my main computer. I can ditto Houston’s comments… the mac simply works. I wouldn’t try to run windows on it; make the complete switch — you can get Office 08 for Mac if you wish or you can simply get iWork 08.
Now, I just need the 3G iphone to come out….
Well, to put my two cents in the Mac vs. PC debate - I’ve had a MacBook for a year since I moved to Kansas. I have boot camp and have Windows XP AND Ubuntu. I use Mac OS X 99 percent of the time, Ubuntu the other 1 percent - and the Windows XP - we’ll, I’m still trying to figure out why I have it on there.
One thing I will say - Windows makes the internet fly in a way Mac’s haven’t figure out how to do yet. For some reason, the net is just faster on the PC. But Keynote blows PowerPoint out of the water. AND - if you still want a word processor with a PC feel - you can use a FREE version of OpenOffice on any operating system.
I’m still debating whether I should open a .mac account. It looks good, but it’s a little pricey. But as with all things Mac - it’s probably worth it in the long run.
Well, there you go. Go Mac and ditch the PC. Just my opinion.

two words: Yes. Macbook
