For the past few years i’ve been mentoring a new monastic covenant group of college guys (alongside Randy Harris) and we’ve developed our own rule of life. It’s progressive for each new degree – that is, we have neophytes, 1st degrees, 2nd degrees, and 3rd degrees. Our rule of life and 7 core values are centered on the Sermon on the Mount.
I’ve been involved in ministry for a decade and this is by far the most useful, tangible, life giving method of discipleship that I have seen.
Excited to hear more about how the Lift conference goes.

I cannot possibly convey just how much this ministered to me today. A friend sent me a link to your post from 2006 about pooping (lol) and I have spent a few minutes perusing your blog. This post hit me right where I’m living…and where I struggle. Thank you for the encouragement. Also, I have written about zombies too! I think we are twins.

Enjoyed your new book. Thankful to be able to recommend to other ministers and pastors who are struggling in their current position. I wish I would have had something similar to help me process what I knew several years ago in my first ministry position. Keep up the great work.

I don’t like this post. Actually, let me rephrase that – I hate this post.

I hate the thought that this stuff actually happens. I hate the thought that some of my closest friends deal with this. I hate the thought that I may have contributed in some of the same ways in the past towards other ministers. I hate the those thoughts deep with in my heart.

But I hate more that these are not just thoughts but are realities for many great, Godly men and women who are called into a full time ministry, men and women I know and love, and many more I don’t know and still love.

As Russ said, thank you for getting this down on paper. My prayer is that other “non minister” people will have their eyes, ears and heart opened to these realities and will take steps to change this atmosphere for their leaders because of this post and your book. Thank you, Wade. Thank you.
