The Filthy Fifty

Celebrate with me my friends.

For the first time in my crossfit experience, I’ve set a gym record. It was on Sunday and the workout is known as “The Filthy Fifty.” It was grueling, but great. Gym records go up on the white board in the gym where everyone can see your name and try to knock you off. I expect my name to come down soon. Some twenty-something stud will blow by me like I’m standing still, but for now, the record is mine.

Another milestone to celebrate: my body fat today was 9.6%. Never thought I’d see single digits.

Barkeep, I’d like to buy everyone in room a shot of wheatgrass juice. Make it a double.

The Eagles Concert

The Eagles concert was a blast. They played a ton of songs and had lots of energy. Their harmonies were out of this world and the musicianship was excellent. Joe Walsh is one goofy dude and he’s not my favorite vocalist, but he can flat out play the guitar. For an encore, they played “Take it Easy” and “Desperado.” A perfect way to end the night.

I started listening to the Eagles in High School. Don Henley’s “End of the Innocence” was one of my favorite CD’s. That led me to both of The Eagles’ Greatest Hits albums. My buddies and I used to listen to them while we cruised the drag in our dusty little West Texas oil town on the weekends.

Here’s what is fascinating to me about The Eagles. I love them. My parents love them. My boys will love them (oh yes, they will, I have foreseen it). Their music crosses generations in a magical way. It’s country, it’ rock, it’s hard, it’s mellow, it’s easy to listen to, and hard to not sing along.

Great show.
